Hollis Webb, Founder and Lead Craftsman of King Post Preservation, Inc., was born and raised on Nantucket. After serving honorably in the U.S. Army Special Forces as a Green Beret, Hollis utilized the GI Bill—along with a grant from the Nantucket Preservation Trust—to attend the Preservation Carpentry program at the North Bennet Street School, recognized as America’s oldest trade school. His deep-rooted passion for Nantucket and traditional woodworking, including techniques like timber framing, continues to guide his mission to preserve the island’s architectural heritage through craftsmanship, integrity, and respect for history. King Post Preservation is dedicated to ensuring that Nantucket’s historic homes are not only preserved but thoughtfully stewarded for generations to come.

Roof cranes, gin poles, and block and tackle are essential tools in preserving historic homes on Nantucket. We fear no lift when it comes to preservation carpentry and timber framing.
